Loris is in northern Horry County on the Atlantic coastal plain. U.S. Route 701 passes through the city, leading southwest 19 miles to Conway, the Horry county seat, and north 7 miles to Tabor City, North Carolina. South Carolina Highway 9, a four-lane highway, passes 2 miles north of Loris, leading northwest 18 miles to Nichols and southeast 21 miles to North Myrtle Beach. SC Highway 9 Business (Main Street) crosses US 701 in the center of Loris, leading northwest 7 miles to SC 9 near Green Sea, and southeast 6 miles to SC 9 near Goretown.
